Rory’s Warrior Games is back!
Back for it’s second year, Rory’s Warrior Games began in support of Rory who was diagnosed with a rare, incurable brain cancer in 2018 aged 4. The Games supports the Robert Connor Dawes Foundation (RCD Foundation) who are on a mission to end brain cancer through vital ongoing research.
About the Rory’s Warrior Games:
The aim of the games is to combine brain power with our love of running with two “thinking” challenges. One is Sudoku for those who love numbers, and for those who love words, we have moved away from our Word Sleuth challenge to incorporate the trending 5 letter word game “Wordle”. For those that prefer the thrill of physical combat over mental prowess, we challenge you to duel against our 8 runners to see if you can outrun their kms in June.
For each game you can earn a bronze, silver or gold token based on how well you perform. This goes into your medal at the end of the month.
If you want to try more than one challenge then you are more than welcome too. You will receive a link to our Rory’s Warrior Games challenge document in your confirmation email with all the details.
How to Play:
Sudoku: complete the sudoku and run the number in the grey shaded squares.
Wordle: attempt the Wordle for each day and run a minimum number of kms based on how many guesses it took you.
Combat: attempt to outrun the monthly kilometres of our 8 challengers.
About Rory (written by Gemma, Rory’s Mum)
Rory was diagnosed with a rare, incurable brain cancer in 2018 aged 4.
Following 68 weeks of chemotherapy and 2 brain and spinal surgeries, he has now been stable off treatment for 3 years! He is monitored by MRI and his oncologist every 6 months to watch for any changes in his multiple tumors. He is left permanently blind in one eye, with gross and fine motor control deficits, abnormal neurological signals to his limbs, general decreased energy and an overall significant impact on his education. But he is beginning to love running – and is in the process of being classified by Athletics Australia into a paraclass for running!
The future for Rory holds many unknowns, so we make the most of every day we have, always creating memories and enjoying meaningful moments together.
